Kitchen of Hope Shares Breakfast for a Cause

Sharing food to the hungry, some members of the  ACD community had breakfast with the poor during the Kitchen of Hope’s opening, Tuesday.

The Kitchen of Hope is a project of PAGLAUM, the Philanthropic Development Office of the Missionaries of the Assumption, to share food to the homeless and hungry people in the vicinity.

The kitchen offered a cup of coffee and servings of bread and ‘kakanin’ for 35 pesos. In every purchase in the Kitchen of Hope, you also shared a part to the poor.

Sr. Flora M. Secuya, the Apostolate Coordinator of the Missionaries of the Assumption, remarked that the small Lenten offering is also a way to celebrate the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.

“We are all GIFTED TO GIVE. This is the challenge of celebrating the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines,” Sr. Flora in her opening message.

On March 14, Pope Francis celebrated a Holy Mass offered to commemorate the 5th centenary of Christianity in the Philippines.

In his Homily, he turned his reflection on the Sunday Gospel message: ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.’ (John 3:16)

“That is the power of love; it shatters the shell of our selfishness… the more we love, the more we are capable of giving,” the Pope reflected in his Homily.

The kitchen is open every Tuesday and Thursday, serving breakfast from 8 AM to 10 AM.
