Members of the ACD Community were joined by construction officials, design team and buildersat the roof deck of the new Senior High School building for the topping off ceremony on June 23. The ceremony is a tradition of builders to cap a milestone progress in the construction projectwhich in this caseis to mark the completion of the new SHS building’s structural framework from the base to the roof deck of the four-storey building.
The topping off celebration and thanksgiving was preceded by a Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Renee C. Dean, OFM. Members of the Building Committee, Designers, and Builders were introduced to the gathered crowd afterwards by RPO Head, Mr. JoprizBueno.In her opening remarks, ACD President, Sr. Marietta B. Banayo, m.a. recognized the invaluable hard work of everybody involved in the project, especially the workers who labored day and night to ensure that the construction remains within the set timeframe and quality standards.
For her part, BOT Chairperson and Missionaries of the Assumption Coordinator, Sr. Elvira P. Soleminio, m.a., thanked everyone for cooperating in implementing the necessary changes and adjustments in the building and design specifications.
Construction now continues for the completion of the architectural phase. The Building Committee also continues to meet every Friday for close monitoring of the works. When finished, the four-storey SHS building designed by ACD High School alumnus Ar. Francis Malone, shall be named the Queen of the Universe building. It shall house 13 fully-equipped classrooms, laboratories, the Offices of the President and the Research and Planning Office, supplies and bookstore, and the SHS faculty room. The Building Committee is also considering the installation of solar panel-ready roofing and putting up another multipurpose audio-visual room on the roof deck.
As per estimate of Maximus Structural Innovations Inc., it is expected that the entire building will be 100% complete around mid-September and will be ready for occupancy in about the same time.
